From A Place Of Love

Breathing. Take breaks. Breaking routines. Practicing kindness. Today is about love. Not perfection. Just love for self and others. Checking in. What do I need today? Do I need to move? I will move. Do I need sun? Air? Space? Time? Yes to long and lazy Facetimes. Yes to checking in with the team about their mental health, not just progress on the deck. Yes to letting balls drop so we can pick them up again, restored and with a sense of calm and purpose. I put post-it’s up to help me to remember to breath. In Thich Nhat Hanh’s, Plum village in the south of France, they hit the gong several times a day. Everyone in the village stops what they are doing to breathe. They are brought back to presence over and over again throughout the day. This is what I will practice now.

My sisters texted that California is sending ventilators to New Jersey for their COVID peak. In three weeks, New Jersey will send ventilators back to California for our COVID peak. That is leading with kindness, not fear. That is leading through trust and generosity and faith. It moves me like nothing else. My new home helping my original home. It’s one of the most beautiful things I‘ve ever heard. It gives me air. I feel so full of love and gratitude. And when we see world leaders like Boris Johnson in the ICU- it brings us back to our raw humanity. Yes that man has terrible oppressive philosophies, yes he denied the seriousness of the virus, but he is a human being. And we don’t want to see other human beings suffer. We don’t work from hate or fear. We work from a place of love. And in this way we show others how to do the same.
